* Looking at the 1870 and 1880 census for Mary, Ella and Sam it appears they moved in with Mary Jane (Bell) Carrol's brother William H. I'm speculating that Patrick and Mary Jane must have died between the birth of Samuel in 1862 and the 1870 census.
