Said to have been the first death/burial in the Town of Kingsbury NY in 1772. <ref>Find A Grave [https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2299626/pattens-mills-cemetery Pattens Mills Cemetery]</ref> It should be noted, however, that some historians only note the widow, [[Dunham-1939|Sarah Dunham Jones]] and her sons as having taken up residence there.
Prior to the move to Kingsbury, the Jones family resided in Lamington, New Jersey<ref> Wikipedia, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lamington,_New_Jersey Lamington, NJ]</ref>, where they are said to have been neighbors with the family of Rev. James McCrea. There are a number of Joneses and Dunhams in the Lamington Presbyterian Cemetery <ref>Find A Grave [https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/1520607/memorial-search?firstname=&middlename=&lastname=&cemeteryName=Lamington+Presbyterian+Church+Cemetery&birthyear=&birthyearfilter=&deathyear=&deathyearfilter=&memorialid=&mcid=&linkedToName=&datefilter=&orderby=d&page=1#sr-69037379 Lamington Presbyterian Cemetery],</ref> including William Jones (a founding trustee of that church in 1740) and his spouse Hephzibah Jones (the first person buried there). But Jones and Dunham being such common names, it would be speculation to assume any close relation in the absence of further information.
