Welcome to the EuroAristo 5 Star profiles list This is part of the European Aristocrats Project * Goal: To update high access profiles * Who should Join: Anyone who is interested in making our most viewed Profiles the best that they can be * How to join: Send your request to John, Darlene or Amy * If there is a 5 star European Aristocrat related Profile not on the list that you would like to work on, contact one of the leaders and they will add it to the list below. == What to do == === Sourcing === * Check that facts are sourced. Try to find sources for ones that aren't * If there aren't dates/locations, see if you can find them and add with sources. If you can't find them, or do not find sources to support them, it would be helpful to add notes about where you searched so that others don't have to repeat your efforts. === Merge === * Check if there are any duplicate family members and propose merges when necessary. === Biography === * If there is a biography, make sure it is an originally written narrative, excluding any copyright or licensing violations (for example, not something that was copied and pasted from Wikipedia; see Copying Text) * Rearrange the Biography section into a logical order, remove any GEDCOM junk and clean up after any merges. See Help:Biographies * Make sure the profile meets our Profile Aesthetics recommendations (see also HTML and Inline CSS). *If there's not a biography, try to lay out a basic narrative and/or timeline of the persons life. Getting the key facts in order will help later. === Family Connections === * Check that family connections (especially parents) are correct and supported by Pre-1500 reliable sources. This is particularly important for pre-1500 profiles. If you find a connection that seems doubtful, start a G2G thread about it, or contact John. === Other === * See if you can add copyright free photographs, pictures, maps or other visual items. * Add categories, project templates, stickers and/or succession boxes if appropriate. * When every thing is done and it is a quality profile, add Completed in the notes section or send John a note. == Ancient Royals & Aristocrats (pre 742) == {| border="2" class="wikitable sortable" cellpadding="9" |- ! align="left" style="background:#4682B4;"|ID-name ! align="left" style="background:#4682B4;"|Rating ! align="left" style="background:#4682B4;"|Who's working it ! align="left" style="background:#4682B4;"|Notes |- |Imma von Schwaben||2254||Laura: Added more sources and some notes. Welcome to the page for the Medieval Project's England and Wales team. ==Team Goals== * To improve existing English and Welsh medieval profiles and WikiTree's coverage of medieval England and Wales. * To help the Medieval Project promote medieval profiles to the wider WikiTree community. * To identify medieval English and Welsh profiles that need research or improvement. ==Team Leaders== * Darlene Athey-Hill * Michael Cayley * Jen Hutton Please feel free to contact any of the team leaders for advice or support. ==How to Join the Team== Members of the team must have pre-1500 certification. If you do not have this, please see the pre-1500 profiles help page for more information. To join the team, please contact one of the team leaders, Darlene Athey-Hill, Michael Cayley or Jen Hutton. You may already be a member of the Medieval Project. If so, great! If not, we will make you a Project member at the same time that you become a team member. A warm thanks to everyone who wants to be part of this team. ==Choosing Profiles to work on== Initially we would like to focus much of our effort on existing profiles with inadequate sourcing or questionable relationships, and on profiles where the biography needs substantial improvement. Over time we would like to build up a list of profiles that need attention, using Maintenance Categories. Five of these have been set up: do add profiles to these. * :Category: Medieval Project, England and Wales, needs sourcing for profiles which are either unsourced or have virtually no sourcing * :Category: Medieval Project, England and Wales, uncertain existence: it may be possible to find evidence to substantiate the existence of some of the people in this category * :Category: Medieval Project, England and Wales, needs relationship check for profiles where relationships are uncertain or no source is given for them * :Category: Medieval Project, England and Wales, needs basic fact check for profiles where basic vital details such as birth and death dates need to be checked or researched * :Category: Medieval Project, England and Wales, needs biography for profiles where there is little or nothing in the biography section or the biography needs rewriting or substantial attention Once you have developed and improved a profile, or while you are doing this, you may want to tackle other members of the family. It can be productive to work on a set of related people for whom some of the sources are the same. Some members may want to work on a family line, or a specific area, or focus mainly on a particular part of the medieval period. If you have a specific focus, please tell the team leader. ==Collaboration and Communication== Please respect the WikiTree guidance on communication before making major changes. If you are going to be doing major work on a profile and it is managed by someone else, please put a comment on the profile in advance: and please add a comment when you have finished the main work you plan on the profile. The team collaborates with the England and Wales Projects, with other Projects as appropriate, and with other teams of the Medieval Project. Particularly for the earlier medieval period, there may also be collaboration with the France Project. The England Project will be leaving the pre-Norman period to the Medieval Project. Do use the Project's Google Group, and G2G, to seek help and advice and to invite input from others. If you have an idea for a "mini-project" on which several of us could work together, tell the team leader. If you find a source that may help others, and that is not one of the standard medieval sources, please share it with the team! One way to do this is by adding a comment on this page. We may find it sensible to create a separate resources page for some of these sources. ==Welsh Profiles== The Wales Project is using a set of categories set out in Category: Wales, Ancient Kingdoms for medieval profiles. Please liaise with the Project over the use of these: the Wales Project liaison is Steve Bartlett. ==Profile Management== The Medieval Project is not aiming to manage profiles unless there is a strong reason for doing so. More guidance on this is on the main Project page. If you think Project management or Project protection is needed for a profile, please contact the team leader. ==Profile Improvement Checklist; Naming Standards== There is a checklist for profile improvement on the main Project page. This also has information on the naming standards we use. It will sometimes be necessary to discuss what is the best last name to use, especially for the earlier medieval period. A post on G2G linking to the profile is the best way to do it. Be sure to use all of the following tags on G2G posts: Pre-1500, Medieval, and England or Wales. ==Team Members== * Marty Acks * Thom Anderson * Darlene Athey-Hill * Steve Bartlett (special focus on Wales; link with Wales Project) * John Byrd * Bettye Carroll (specific interest in Holland and Plantagenet families) * Michael Cayley * Michael Christmas (main focus on Essex) * Joe Cochoit * Stephen Davies * Nic Donnelly * Laura DeSpain * Jo Fitz-Henry (link with England Project) * Helen Ford (especially SW England) * Chris Gilbert (specially interested in Gilbert and Kingsmill families) * Todd Gilbert (special focus on Stradling family plus Glamorgan and Somerset) * Ros Haywood * Malcolm Hoare (special focus on Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire, and on le Hore ancestors) * Jen Hutton (link with Scotland Project) * Nick Kennedy * Kerry Larson * David Leighr * Pamela Lohbeck (special focus on unsourced Northumberland profiles) * Marty Ormond * Steve Ringer * Todd Stanton *Barry Sweetman * Terri Swift * Deborah (Smith) Talbot (Cornwall and Devon especially the area around Wendron, Cornwall) * Elizabeth Viney (especially SW England) * Chris Weston (specific interest in Sussex) * Valerie Willis

If you have a specific focus, please tell the team leader. {| border="2" cellpadding="9" |- ! align="left" style="background:#52BE80;"|Resource ! align="left" style="background:#52BE80;"|Members ! align="left" style="background:#52BE80;"| Notes |- |Training Coming soon | |Linda (Penrose) Hoffman - working on Badge |- |Pre-1500 Work without a Badge | | |- |Historical Sources of Ireland |Rich Devlin | |- |Irish_Naming_Standards | | |- |Space:Time_Line_Irish_History | |Links to Categories and Pages |- ! align="left" style="background:#DC7633;"| ! align="left" style="background:#DC7633;"| ! align="left" style="background:#DC7633;"| |} * {| border="2" cellpadding="9" |- ! align="left" style="background:#52BE80;"| Pages ! align="left" style="background:#52BE80;"| Leader ! align="left" style="background:#52BE80;"| Notes |- |High_Kings_of_Ireland | | |- |Irish_Kingdoms | | |- |Irish Clans category and pages | | |- |Space:Ireland_5Star_list#Pre_1500_Profiles | | |- |Governors of Ireland | | |- |Jaski Project |Rich Devlin | |- |Comparative Analysis of the Descendants and DNA of Conn Cétchathach Ceadcatha | | |- ! align="left" style="background:#DC7633;"| ! align="left" style="background:#DC7633;"| ! align="left" style="background:#DC7633;"| |} Unsourced Family Lines that need work - GedCom etc. If you find more please add the family below, (oldest unsourced profile) If you're working on a line please add your name to the notes {| border="2" cellpadding="9" |- ! align="left" style="background:#52BE80;"|First in line ! align="left" style="background:#52BE80;"| Notes |- |Space:Unsourced_Profile_Hints | |- |Richard Blake (abt. 1260 - abt. 1315) | |- | | |- | | |- ! align="left" style="background:#DC7633;"| ! align="left" style="background:#DC7633;"| |} ==Collaboration and Communication== Do use the Project's Google Group, and G2G, to seek help and advice and to invite input from others. If you have an idea for a "mini-project" on which several of us could work together, tell the team leader. If you find a source that may help others, and that is not one of the standard medieval sources, please share it with the team! Some way, to do this is by adding a comment on this page, ask in G2G or add it to Historical Sources of Ireland. ==Profile Management== The Medieval Project is not aiming to manage profiles unless there is a strong reason for doing so. More guidance on this is on the main Project page. If you think Project management or Project protection is needed for a profile, please contact the team leader. ==Profile Improvement Checklist; Naming Standards== There is a checklist for profile improvement on the main Medieval Project page. This also has additional information on the naming standards we use. It will sometimes be necessary to discuss what is the best last name to use, especially for the earlier medieval period. A post on G2G linking to the profile is the best way to do it. Be sure to use all of the following tags on G2G posts: Irish_Roots, Pre-1500, and Medieval. == What is required to get a pre-1500 badge == : Here is what they consider when you apply for Pre-1500 certification: ::1) We are looking for active participation in a Pre-1700 project. (Ireland Project is one). ::2) We need an example of your work that indicates that you understand WikiTree sources and Style requirements. It should be a Pre-1700 profile and/or Project Managed Profile. ::3) The leadership needs experience working with you which happens through project participation. (work with a leader that has a Pre-1500 Badge) ::4) We check a sampling of your Pre-1700 watch list to see if you have good Sources, Style requirements and bios which include inline citations for key dates and relationships, or some explanation if dates are estimates ::5) We check to see if you have created duplicate profiles. ::6) We check G2G to see if you are asking the correct questions and adding the correct Tags. :Examples ::Ellen (Quinn) King (abt. 1832 - 1923) ::Donald Munro (abt. 0990 - abt. 1039) ::Fineen O'Driscoll Sr. (abt. 1560 - abt. 1629) *Help:Pre-1700_Profiles *Help:Pre-1500_Profiles == Sources == *Bart Jaski Genealogical tables of medieval Irish royal dynasties Table-? Early Irish Kingship Succession by Jaski Bart, Published by Four Courts Press, 2013, ISBN 1846824265 ISBN 9781846824265 *St Flannan and St Rícenn: labouring kings and literate mothers in medieval Clare - Catherine Swift *Space:Historical_Sources_of_Ireland

This page is for notes to help the Medieval Project Leadership Team in their work. ==Profile Management== We do not want to be overwhelmed by managing a huge number of profiles. General guidelines on when profile management should be considered are on the Medieval Project main page. These are the arrangements so far agreed where a profile needs Project management. They also apply to profiles inherited from the EuroAristo Project, but these can be handled over a period of time. Please note that the EuroAristo Project is now confined to post-1500 profiles. These arrangements may need fine-tuning in the light of experience. ===English profiles=== The England Project should be asked if it wants to manage the profile if it is of someone prominent, unless it is of the pre-Norman period: the England Project is not extending that far back in time. The England Project has started the process of taking over English profiles that were managed by the British Aristo Project: it may be some time before this process is complete. England Project liaison: Jo Fitz-Henry ===French profiles=== The general approach is: * The France Project will manage the profile if it is post-1200, unless the person is relatively obscure AND there are major controversies over relationships etc which call for specialised medieval expertise. * The Medieval Project will manage the profile if it is pre-1200. France Project liaison: Isabelle Rassinot ===Irish profiles=== Rich Devlin, one of the leaders of the Medieval Project's Ireland team (co-sponsored with the Irish Roots Project), is also a leader of the Ireland Project and should be asked to decide which Project should manage the profile. ===Scottish profiles=== Just as the Scotland Project will normally take the lead on Scottish medieval profiles, it will also normally manage Scottish medieval profiles if Project management is needed. Scotland Project liaisons: Jen Hutton and Mark Sutherland-Fisher :: Leader contact Bobbie Hall ===Welsh profiles=== The Wales Project should be asked if it wishes to manage the profile. Wales Project liaison: Steve Bartlett ===Other countries=== Liaise with the country Project leaders if there is a country Project. ==Naming Standards for some country Projects== ===Wales Project=== Name Fields Welsh Aristocrats
